Linux PPTP Setup Tutorial


STEP 1


In upper system menu bar click on network icon and choose VPN Connections and then Configure VPN.

STEP 2


In Network Connections window, choose VPN section and click Add.

STEP 3


In newly opened window, choose Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) and click Create

STEP 4


In newly opened VPN profile editing window:

a. Enter VPN profile name (for your own convenience)

b. Select VPN section

c. Enter VPNConnected Server Address

d. Enter your VPNConnected username

e. Enter your VPNConnected password

f. You can choose Saved to let system remember your password

g. Click Advanced

STEP 5


In PPTP Advanced Options window, make sure PAP, CHAP and EAP to be unchecked, check USE POINT-TO-POINT ENCRYPTION (MPPE), select 128-BIT (MOST SECURE) from Security and Compression, check ALLOW STATEFUL ENCRYPTION and make sure Allow BSD data compression, Allow Deflate data compression and Use TCP header compression are checked and click OK to save changes.

STEP 6


To connect, in upper system menu bar click on network icon. Choose VPN Connections and then VPNConnected (this example).

STEP 7


To disconnect from VPNConnected, in upper system menu bar click on network icon (when connected to VPN, the lock is shown) - Choose VPN Connections and click on Disconnect VPN.
