Windows 8 openvpn Setup Tutorial

Download OpenVPN official client. Run the downloaded file to start installation as follows.

Download OpenVPN config file from "Client Area" unzip it and choose the desired port-protocol directory. If that protocol port is blocked on your network you can choose the others and try.We suggest to use OpenVPN UDP ports for connecting to servers which are on other continents(Ping latency over 100ms).

Copy selected OpenVPN config files to the openvpn config directory - "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config" for 32bit OS“C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenVPN\config” for 64bit OS

Find the OpenVPN GUI icon on your desktop, right-click on it, and choose Properties from the context menu Click on Change settings for all users. In the Compatibility Window , check Run this program as an administrator. Click OK to close the Properties window. Click OK to close the OpenVPN GUI Properties window. Right click on the OpenVPN GUI icon(two red screens) in the taskbar and choose exit to close OpenVPN GUI to run again as administrator.

Go to Start -> All Programs -> OpenVPN and start OpenVPN GUI. You may receive the following message: OpenVPN GUI is already running. In the toolbar, you should now see a symbol for OpenVPN (two red screens). Right click on the symbol with the mouse, choose server you want to connect and click Connect.

Enter your VPNConnected username and password and click OK. The OpenVPN GUI icon in the tray will turn green once the secure connection is established. To disconnect, just right click on the OpenVPN server you were connected and select Disconnect.

Please note that current OpenVPN GUI does not support more than 50 configs connections and you may notice an alert about this. Please delete the config files which you do not have intend to connect from the config directory.
